BestStart Macdonald Street  

BestStart Macdonald Street (formerly TopKids Mount Maunganui), provides childcare to children ages 3 months to 6 years. We are situated just off Hewletts Road and Maunganui Road, two doors down from Placemakers and Huckleberry Organic Grocer , only a few minutes from Mount Maunganui CBD and Bayfair shopping centre with easy access to SH 2.

Primary schools partnership - We are close to several primary schools in the area, Mount Primary, Arakaki, Omanu, and St Thomas More Catholic school and have a close working relationship with them to ease children’s transition into school. Schools-Out, Out of School Care and Recreation is located on our premises and provide care for primary age children before and after school and holiday programs.

How we care for and educate your children - The childcare programme offers education in a respectful and nurturing environment for children in separate age-appropriate rooms: Preschool children (Kowhai Room) age 3-5, toddler care for ages 2-3 (Koru Room)  and baby-care from 3 months to 2 years (Te Tipu Room). The spacious, easy indoor-outdoor flow provides children free access to engage in physical activity, nature and opportunities for uninterrupted exploration.

Extra-curricular activities - The older children also enjoy an optional swimming lesson twice a week during term time at Bartletts Swimming School – a skill we feel every New Zealand child should have. Physical development is enhanced through optional  Rugby Tots lessons provided at the centre during the school term. We feel these areas all support constructive age-appropriate learning and development.

Our Teaching - Our experienced teachers are dedicated to providing remarkable childcare and endeavor to offer a range of activities for children which enable them to learn through exploring their interests. Individual development programmes are set up for children and they each have an e-portfolio that records their learning and development during their time at BestStart MacDonald Street.
