About BestStart Rototuna

Kia ora, hello, namaste, kon’nichiwa. Here at BestStart Rototuna our home is your home. Whanaungatanga being our main focus, we aim to make families feel at home, have a sense of belonging, to build trusting long lasting relationships and work together to support your child through their journey with us.

BestStart Rototuna is located at the end of Saxon Woods Drive in Rototuna. Our centre is licensed for 50 tamariki, and we welcome children aged from 3 months to 5 years old. We have 3 rooms, our Kowhai Room (3 months-2 years), Harakeke Room (2 years – 3.8 years) and Mauku Room (3.8 years – 5 years). When transitioning children within the rooms we communicate extensively with whanau, this way the transition is for the children and also their family. Before you start with us we recommend you bring your child for visits as this gets them used to a different environment, different faces and different routines. When it gets closer to their start date, we suggest that you leave the room and make yourself at home in our staff room where there is coffee and tea.

Our Kowhai Room - Kaiako base their curriculum around care. Their day works around the needs of each individual, working alongside family and whanau to make sure that their tamariki’s needs are meet and the aroha (love) is felt.

Our Harakeke Room - Kaiako work hard to promote an environment for children to have secure attachments and social competence through a holistic view.

Our Mauku Room - Kaiako work alongside our tamariki through a play based curriculum. Guiding them, facilitating their learning, and scaffolding them to take them to their next level of learning journey. To be respectful and resilient is weaved through their daily routines also.

Te Ao Maori is something kaiako work hard towards daily. Teaching the tamariki about Mana ako, Mana Tangata, Mana Atua. We have Kapahaka Tuesdays and Thursdays, this brings the centre together as one, to learn together, aroha one another, and support one another.

We are well known for our large outdoor spaces with natural grass, these spaces allow for tamariki to explore and create. We pride ourselves in caring for Papatuanuku, with our gardens and with the beginnings of our orchard we can provide veges and fruit for our families and our wider community.
