About Princes St Childcare Centre

   7 ratings more

Princes Street Childcare Centre is a community-based independent childcare, located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. We specialise in full-time quality care and education, with wonderful teachers and a supportive loving community.

Princes St Childcare is an enriching, exciting home away from home for your child. As a Charitable Trust, everything we are and everything we do is focused on creating the best environment for our young ones to learn, grow, and most importantly, be happy.

We employ a full-time in-house cook, who is inspired in what she does, providing the children with 3 creative, nutritious and well-crafted meals a day.

We welcome each child as their own person. Valuing their own experiences and knowledge from their young lives and allowing them to share those with us. Our location in the heart of the Central Business District in Auckland leads us to welcome a Whanau of children from a unique array of cultural backgrounds.

Our teachers are inspired and motivated to see your child thrive. You will be hard-pressed to find a childcare centre where the teachers care more about the children in their care.

Curriculum:

We are committed to facilitating a bi-cultural curriculum. We are inclusive; respecting and celebrating individuality. The hallmark of all practice at Princes St is "Adorn the Bird with Feathers and it will fly". "Ma Te huruhuru, Ka rere Te manu".

We have two rooms, one for under-twos and one for over twos and those transitioning. This allows us to focus learning activities toward each separate age group.

Our teachers believe strongly in learning through play, and are constantly providing new ways for the Tamariki to develop their young bodies and minds while having fun.

We use the Storypark learning documentation system to share and connect with parents through each child's learning journey. The system creates a detailed electronic portfolio that parents can share with family overseas or locally, and keep when the child graduates to school.

We were originally nervous about putting our 7 month old in full time daycare, but she adores it so much at Princes St. she cries when she comes home, not when she's dropped off! The staff are extremely warm and clearly adore the kids. They are flexible, provide really healthy meals and encourage lots of creative play. We also like that they work around the kids needs and schedules rather than fixed routines, and make really entertaining use of the Storypark app to keep overseas whanau connected with bubs development. I'd highly recommend it.
